If you look closely, you can see a tiny Buddha inside the yellow mini-temple. He has an amazing riverside view of Luong Prabong. On the other side of the hill, he would see the city. But he's not concerned with such worldly affairs.
So revered is Buddha in predominately Buddhist Laos, that Laotians cannot bear to throw away damaged or misshapen figures. The solution? A sort of retirement home for the lovely figures who sit, stand or gesture their way to Nirvana evermore. We got to this cave by taking a boat down the Mekong River, navigated by a man and his adorable little five-year-old son.
